This Week: NAFCU Remains Focused on Credit Union Priorities
While both the House and Senate are out due to the Thanksgiving holiday, NAFCU's award-winning advocacy team continues to work on several industry priorities including the fight against the NAFCU-opposed proposal granting the Small Business Administration (SBA) direct lending capabilities, monitoring movement on the fiscal year 2022 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), and protecting the credit union tax-exempt status.

In addition, when Congress returns to session next week, NAFCU will be monitoring Senate action on the recently House-passed Build Back Better Act (BBBA), which does not include the NAFCU-opposed IRS reporting requirements but does include the SBA direct lending proposal. The association will remain alert on both issues to ensure their exclusion from the final BBBA.

Happening at NAFCU this week:

• today, comments in response to the CFPB's notice and request for comment regarding a series of orders issued by the bureau to collect information on the business practices of large technology companies operating payments systems in the U.S. are due to NAFCU; and

• Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday the association’s offices will be close in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Stay tuned to NAFCU Today for the latest developments out of Washington.
