NAFCU Engaged as Relief Negotiations Continue
NAFCU's award-winning government affairs team will monitor movement on Capitol Hill and engage with lawmakers as relief negotiations continue. To join NAFCU in its advocacy, credit unions can access the association's resource page and Grassroots Advocacy Center to build relationships and advocate on behalf of the industry.

Additionally, the NCUA Board will meet Thursday and is to issue a final rule on joint ownership share accounts, providing parity with changes made for banks by the FDIC in 2019. The board will also receive briefings on the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund's (NCUSIF) quarterly report and the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021's emergency capital investment program (ECIP).

The House Financial Services Committee is set to hold a hearing Thursday, Game Stopped? Who Wins and Loses When Short Sellers, Social Media, and Retail Investors Collide, exploring the recent trading turmoil in GameStop and related stocks. According to reports, executives from Robinhood, Melvin Capital, and Citadel Securities are expected to testify.

NAFCU's Virtual Strategic Growth Conference kicks off tomorrow, designed to equip credit union leaders with the tools and knowledge needed to help take their institution to the next level. During the conference, attendees will explore growth strategies and best practices to propel through economic headwinds.

Thursday, a NAFCU webinar on troubled debt restructuring will review key considerations related to ongoing loan modifications, including recent legislation and guidance from regulators.

Throughout the month, Inclusiv is offering a series of events in honor of Black History Month, including:

• an event with the African-American Credit Union Coalition (AACUC) and the Heartland Credit Union Association which will feature a conversation on diversity, equity, and inclusion;

• AACUC's "Commitment to Change: Credit Unions Unite Against Racism" conversation;

• a webinar detailing how community development credit unions can utilize the CDFI Fund's Rapid Response Program to help their members;

• a webinar to host CDFI office hours for credit unions interested in learning more about CDFI certification; and

• a conversation with Inclusiv's Senior Program Officer, Monica Copeland and guests on the critical role Black credit unions play In achieving racial equity.

Additionally, Inclusiv and AACUC are partnering to produce a series of features highlighting the impact of their combined membership in providing COVID relief and advancing racial equity.
