| Economic Update: Research proving Credit Union impact |
|
ncreasing the number of credit union-focused studies is a priority for America’s Credit Unions as it works to raise awareness and close the discrepancy in coverage from bank-focused studies. In the latest Economic Update, Senior Economist Dawit Kebede walks through a few different research studies and how they quantify the credit union difference.
Kebede highlighted four major themes from the research, covering everything from their impact on the broader financial services market to the impacts of their member-driven mission.
“This research tells us that credit unions deliver real benefits,” said Kebede. “They keep bank loan rates lower, expand access in underserved communities, hold up better during times of financial stress, and their portfolios are resilient.”
The Data and Tools section of America’s Credit Unions’ website contains the monthly update, as well as dashboard analytics, credit union data, the current economic forecast, and more.
