| Member Service stands out during Financial Capability Month |
|
For credit unions, Financial Capability Month isn’t just a single timeframe to improve financial well-being. It’s an opportunity to highlight what credit unions do all year long, in communities nationwide, to create skills and knowledge that last a lifetime. An America’s Credit Unions Blog post shares how some credit unions are meeting their communities’ specific needs.
Credit union programs helping members improve their financial capability include:
• BayPort Credit Union in Virginia offering an incentive program that led to a 27% jump in members tracking their credit score;
• Chief Financial Credit Union in Michigan launching a hands-on financial literacy kit for children;
• Valley Strong Credit Union hosting its third annual Financial Skills Day across four counties in California;
• DuPage Credit Union teaming up with local students in Illinois to teach money-management lessons to other students;
• MSU Federal Credit Union launching a mobile-first financial education platform to serve members in Michigan;
• Family First Federal Credit Union in Rochester, New York partnering with Student Choice to help lower student loan debt;
• Delta Community Credit Union awarding grants to local nonprofits in the Atlanta region to celebrate its Financial Education Center’s 10th anniversary; and
• Greylock Federal Credit Union offering bilingual homebuyer workshops in the Massachusetts Berkshires.
