| Members are Living Proof of Credit Unions’ effectiveness |
|
Following up her remarks to several members of Congress in the Capitol this week, America’s Credit Unions Chief Advocacy Officer Kathleen Coulombe published an op-ed in CU Today describing the powerful impact and financial peace of mind credit unions provide to their members.
“Credit unions are just built differently,” said Coulombe. “While banks champion profits, credit unions champion people and values. And our members themselves are living proof of the effectiveness of credit unions.”
She also provided the facts against bankers’ misleading claims ahead of this week’s community banker fly-in to Washington D.C. This follows direct communication to Congress earlier this week.
“As the bankers bring with them the same misleading claims and tired talking points, credit unions welcome the opportunity to ground the conversation in the truth,” she said.
“This week exemplifies why I joined the credit union movement: No matter where you are financially, there is an institution in your community that will sit across the table from you, listen, and help you find a way forward—and that institution is a credit union.”
