| Simpson: Credit Unions to be financial partner for Service Members |
|
Defense credit unions uniquely understand, and are structured to address, the distinct financial needs associated with military service. That service extends throughout all stages of their military careers, life milestones, and beyond,” wrote America’s Credit Unions President/CEO Scott Simpson in a new op-ed recognizing Military Appreciation Month.
Simpson highlighted credit unions’ long legacy of serving the military community, with many institutions chartered during World War II to serve members abroad. From providing needed financial relief during government shutdowns to affordable loans, credit unions remain a trusted financial partner for service members.
“Credit unions are serving American service members to the best of their ability. They help them achieve financial freedom,” Simpson wrote. “Monday is Memorial Day, a day to honor and mourn the service members who died in the line of duty. How we show up for them and their families should not be limited solely to this day of remembrance but rather should be an unending practice of gratitude and service in return.”
America’s Credit Unions consistently advocates for policies that strengthen credit unions’ ability to serve military members and enhance veterans’ access to affordable loans.
