Credit Union champions win Primaries across six States
Fifty-three of 55 credit union-backed candidates in California, Iowa, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, and South Dakota advanced to the general election this week, with two races yet to be called.

In California, credit union champion Rep. Brad Sherman, D, advanced to November’s election in the 32nd Congressional District. The National Advocacy Fund partnered with California’s Credit Unions to deliver digital ads, and mailers and to get out the vote messages to credit union members across the district.

Rep. Young Kim, R, another strong credit union champion, is currently in second place in the 40th district primary, where the top two finishers advance to the general. California vote counts are ongoing, so the race may not be called until next week or later. The other pending race involves credit union-supported Doris Matsui, D, in the 6th Congressional District.

America’s Credit Unions PAC ran digital ads and sent mailers in support of Kim.

Other successful races include:

• California District 1: State Sen. Mike McGuire, D, moves onto the general election;

• California District 26: Assemblywoman Jacqui Irwin advances to November’s election;

• Montana Senate: former U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme, R, won the Republican primary;

• South Dakota At-large District: State Attorney General Marty Jackley secured the Republican nomination.

The latest results can be viewed at the Credit Union Elections Hub.
