Campaign kicks off to bring awareness to Check Fraud
America’s Credit Unions and the American Association of Credit Union Leagues have teamed up to support a new campaign in partnership with America Saves that’s designed to bring attention to how and why check fraud occurs. Kicking off today and continuing through the month of August, weekly themed campaign resources will help raise awareness of check-related fraud threats.

This week, the topic “What is Check Fraud?” will break down various types of check fraud and how it happens.

“Consumers shouldn’t have to worry about losing their hard-earned payments and benefits to fraudsters. With check fraud driving at least $16 billion in losses just last year, credit unions are raising awareness by partnering with America Saves to fight this growing trend and protect their members. Through a month-long campaign, we're sharing resources to educate Americans on how to spot and stop check fraud,” said America’s Credit Unions Chief Advocacy Officer Kathleen Coulombe. “We're also calling on Congress to advance legislative solutions like Rep. Young Kim’s STOP Payments Fraud Act to stop fraudsters. Consumers deserve peace of mind, and credit unions are trusted partners in protecting their financial well-being.”

Campaign resources include newsletter posts, social media graphics and videos, blog posts, and more.
