| Small Credit Union perspectives elevated in Committee Meetings |
|
Small credit union leaders shared their perspectives and priorities during several America’s Credit Unions committee meetings this week, including the Small Credit Union Committee and Advocacy Advisory Panel.
During the Small Credit Union Committee meeting, President/CEO Scott Simpson shared insights from this week’s meeting with NCUA Chairman John Crews, particularly parts of the conversation of most relevance to small credit unions. This includes examination relief and other modernizations.
Committee members also shared regional developments, educational opportunities, outreach activities, upcoming events, and regulatory experiences affecting small credit unions.
The Advocacy Advisory Panel heard the latest on America’s Credit Unions’ efforts to elect a pro-credit union Congress in November, including recent get-out-the-vote efforts, the near-record number of open seats this cycle, and how credit unions are supporting their champions facing a challenge at the ballot box.
The Credit Union Elections Hub contains an interactive map tracking America’s Credit Unions PAC-supported candidates. The group was also encouraged to share CreditUnionsVote.com with their members, a nonpartisan resource that contains registration status information, polling locations, early voting information, and more.
The Advocacy Team also shared potential upcoming NCUA rulemakings as listed on regulators’ latest Unified Rulemaking Agenda, and encouraged use of the Resource Library, which includes information on connecting with legislators for in-district meetings.
