| Gaining insights on resilience, teamwork, service at GAC 2027 |
|
Former presidential advisor and national security authority Adm. William H. McRaven will keynote at the Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) 2027. McRaven is a retired U.S. Navy Four-Star admiral who has advised Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, in addition to other U.S. leaders, on defense issues. As the Chancellor of the University of Texas System, he led one of the nation’s largest and most respected systems of higher education.
His keynote will translate the hard-won lessons learned in four-plus decades of commanding special operations forces at every level into practical insights on resilience, teamwork, and service.
During his time in the military, he commanded special operations forces at every level, eventually taking charge of the U.S. Special Operations Command, most notably overseeing the mission that brought down Osama bin Laden in 2011. He also played key roles in the capture of Saddam Hussein and the rescue of Capt. Richard Phillips.
McRaven has been recognized for his leadership numerous times, including in 2011 as first runner-up for TIME’s “Person of the Year,” honors from Foreign Policy magazine and Politico, and other public service awards and recognitions. He has authored books covering special operations warfare, history, leadership, and personal accountability.
Set for Feb. 28 – March 4, GAC 2027 is the credit union industry's premier advocacy event, where thousands of credit union leaders and advocates come together with policymakers to shape public policy.
