Three new deregulation proposals announced by NCUA
The NCUA announced the 13th round of proposed regulatory changes as part of its Deregulation Project Tuesday.

The three new proposals include:

• Conversion to State-Chartered Credit Union: This proposal would eliminate an outdated and duplicative regulation governing continued federal share insurance when a federal credit union converts to a state charter.

• Nonconforming Investment Special Reserve: This proposal would eliminate a special reserve requirement for certain investments held but federally insured state-chartered credit unions.

• Notification to Members/Shareholders: This proposal would eliminate prescriptive requirements for providing printed share insurance materials to members. Credit unions would still need to notify members but would be able to choose how to provide the information.

Watch for upcoming Regulatory Comment alerts from America’s Credit Unions requesting member feedback on the proposals.
